Taking care of Pets vs Kids

M

I see all time people who say "oh if you can't take care of a dog/cat you will NEVER be capable of taking care of a child".

Thats false. I personally have zero pets cause I just don't want to put in the effort needed to take care of one. I don't value having a pet.

But you better be sure my child is very well taken care of and I always put in the extra mile for them. They are my babies and mean more to me then anything on this earth.

You know why, cause I place a much higher value on it. I like dogs and cats, but not enough to keep them or put any effort into caring for them. I rather visit my siblings/friends, hang out with their pets. And then go home to my house without tons of pet fur around.

So everyone who chooses to have both, good for you, I am sure your life is richer for it. But I am tired of pet owners thinking someone who doesn't care about having a pet will be bad at taking care of a kid.

What's your opinion on this? Do you think someone needs to have a pet to train themselves to one day take care of a baby?
