Great news today!
Today my husband and I could finally exhale the breath we had been holding since last Thursday. I am sharing to provide hope to others who maybe in the same situation. Last week I got my AFP Mom test results back and they were abnormally high.
I am pregnant with fraternal twin girls via IVF. I am almost 39 and this is my first pregnancy after trying for so long. I had a very trying first trimester where I was constantly bleeding and clotting. I had even thought I was miscarrying at one point.
I made it out of my first trimester and the bleeding stopped the week after. I had taken my blood test and learned there was no sign of Down syndrome. I had thought I was in the clear at this point until my recent AFP Mom protein test came back positive.
I started to research and grew more concerned since I found out this could mean one or both girls could have spina bifida. Looking more into the test, I grew even more worried when I found out that since I have a MTHFR mutation, I was at an even greater risk for having children with this condition.
Today was my scan of the babies brain and spine and thankfully both girls are perfectly health and developing on schedule.
I write because I understand the fear and worry that others in my situation are going through. I know it is hard but don’t give up hope because you might get your miracles.
