My baby fell and it’s my fault…
Something I never thought would have ever happened finally has. This morning my 5-month old daughter rolled off my bed and fell face first onto a hardwood floor. My SO normally wakes me up and hands me the baby from her bassinet so I can feed her around 5-6 and we snuggle up afterwards for a bit before beginning our day. While he was getting ready for work we both must have dozed back off and I moved my arm from the cradled position around her so she was able to roll right off the side of the bed (she’s a roll to the side in her sleep baby and I think she went to roll to her left-side which is her favorable side and went right off). She calmed down in about 15 minutes, drank a bottle and didn’t throw it up, didn’t spit up, and stayed awake for an hour afterwards before taking a 45 minute nap. I of course made her a same-day appointment at her pediatrician just to make sure she was ok. She didn’t lose consciousness during, no blood, no CSF, all appendages moving and she doesn’t seem bothered…her pediatrician said to monitor her for 6 hours. She slept from 12:30-2:50, and then again from 6:30-8:30 and just went to bed at 10:15 after her aunt stopped over. Hasn’t thrown up all day, slight bruise on her forehead but barely noticeable to the point her Pediatrician thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. She’s not as “talkative” as she normally is but she other than that she seems completely fine. My worry is that everyone keeps telling me her pediatrician is going to call CPS. Of course it was a complete accident and I feel like literal garbage that I let my baby fall and it could’ve been a lot worse. Now my biggest fear is that CPS is going to be notified and my child could get taken away from me. Please don’t hit me with the “well you’re an idiot for placing her with you when she can roll and falling back asleep”, trust me I already know that. But has any other momma dealt with this? Any calming advice? I’m worried for my daughter physically and overall terrified.
