Paragard IUD Expulsion

So I got the copper IUD inserted just over a week ago. I’m not sure what exactly went wrong, but I’ve discovered that I can feel the plastic tip sticking out of my cervix when I go to check with my fingers. (For context: I’m 20, never had kids/been pregnant, no previous IUD, and I have no abnormal health issues that I’m aware of.) My nurse practitioner didn’t do an ultrasound during the insertion, so I’m hoping that it just has to do with the alignment of my uterus or some incorrect measurement that can be easily fixed during a reinsertion. My scheduled follow-up isn’t until Sept 10, so I’m not sure if I’d be able to get in sooner, especially bc I’m driving four hours away to college tomorrow. For anyone who’s had to have their IUD removed due to expulsion, were you able to get a reinsertion on the spot, or did you have to schedule another insertion appointment? What was your experience like? The thought of potentially having another expulsion makes me very nervous because I’d like to have it in and be done with it, and the fact that expulsion is generally uncommon really caused me to freak when I felt the plastic tip because I wasn’t expecting that at all. I’m anxious baybee ahaha!! 🙃
