Covid shot while pregnant?

Do you think the shot is safe while pregnant? They're mandating me now to get it for nursing school. I start tomorrow and I'm nervous on the long term effects on the baby after hes born. Since it's not safe for kids under 12 I just don't see how they know it can't hurt him in the long run after he's born. I've been at my school for 5 years for prereqs and wait list and am finally in the program and I feel like I'm having to choose between my son and my school. Also I already had covid a couple months ago and have the antibodies. I understand they suggest still getting it but I just would like to wait till after hes born.

The vaccine itself doesn’t pass the placenta. No one said it isn’t safe for kids under 12. They are just doing trials now and thousands of pregnant women have gotten the shot and the babies have been tested afterwards. The baby has the antibodies that you make vs getting the actual vaccine.

Personally I’m not getting it for the same reason. I just follow mask and distance guidelines. But honestly this is a situation that you will have to make a choice. I’m sorry you’re in that position :(

My doctor has told me not to get it as of yet still, I’m in my second trimester I’m not sure if his opinion will change as I get further along. It was a hard no in the first trimester due to fever risk. I work in healthcare and it’s not mandatory for me and I honestly don’t know what I would/ will do if that situation changes

I did not get it while I was pregnant. I still haven’t if I’m being honest and I’m not sure that I will. To get 3 shots in less than a year is maddening to me. 
Anyways, I did ask both my OB and my MFM specialist earlier this year for their opinion and while they ultimately said that it “should be okay,” but that it was my choice. They wouldn’t recommend it one way or another. That wasn’t good enough for me. 
I agree with you- it’s not approved for young children but go ahead and put it in your body while you have a child developing? No thanks. There are a lot of people who will tell you that they have had their babies and all is great. The truth is that not them, or anyone else can tell you if there will be any effects down the road. 
Honestly, it’s bullshit that you are in the situation where you have to choose your education or this shot. 
If you don’t feel comfortable with it, stand your ground.

My dr hasn’t said a word about it until the cdc started “recommending it”. The truth is we don’t know if there are any affects long term. People can say it’s safe but we don’t know. At this point it’s a game of Russian roulette, I know people who have gotten it pregnant and experienced nothing adverse and their babies were born seemingly healthy. I also know a few who were not so lucky. I would ask your dept if you can provide proof of antibodies and commit to getting it perhaps after the baby if they would accept that.
