How to detach from someone you love?

I love him, I want to be with him, I miss him so much. I just know that he doesn't put in as much effort into our relationship as I do and I'm having a hard time moving on. How do I tell him? How do I move on? I'm nkt sure why but it all just hit me and all I want to do is cry and to be alone but I can't right now. Help please.
