Don't believe the DR is correct?

Today I went to the Dr and tested negative for pregnancy. However...it may be too early.i don't even start until the 4th. I have nausea and I spotted for 1 day on Aug 11th. First day of last period was Aug 2nd.. I took a test to see if eggs are still good and came back optimal...? He's basing it on my age which is 46... And I have nausea all day( since I spotted..).... And I got really hot last night. Basically that's about it. I don't believe his diagnosis...I just had the test ...I will just wait to see if period is missed. I never have ever spotted ever
