If someone (S/O) called the cops on you and instead ended up being arrested. Would you go through the process of clearing their name? Say it was something petty like a shove? Would you try to help them or leave them there?

Your S/O put their hands on you. No I would not clear his name because they rightfully got arrested for domestic violence. I would either move out or change the locks and never let him back into my life.

And this is why the police are the ones who do the restraining orders etc. because women often change their mind, or attack the police officer which is why multiple cops show up to a domestic crime scene, because the minute they try and take away the husband, the wife flips out and tries to attack the police officer, but it is the police officer who puts in the charges and also restraining orders etc., so it doesn’t get dropped until you go to court, normally a temporary restraining order is put in first followed by a permanent wanted to later court date. If your partner is truly being abusive to you, you are better off alone than a bad company. Never allow obligation or guilt or manipulation or the fact that you have children or how long you’ve been together etc. be the reason that you stay with someone. ￼

shoving someone is abuse. if they’ll shove you they won’t hesitate to do more. especially if you drop the case.
