Unusual period

So I don't normally post on here since I figured I should know my body by now but I guess not. This month my period was 5 days late, which has happened before and is not that concerning. What is concerning is that I'm coming on CD 9 and the bleeding has only gotten heavier, to the point where I'm passing blood clots multiple times a day. Also I have sharp pains on the lower right of my pelvis but only in the mornings. I have made an appointment with a gynecologist but it's going to take a few weeks to get me in. Has anyone dealt with something similar?
