Do you believe in telling things privately to people before social media?

1a) use your judgement as in announcing pregnancies, something where someone got hurt, immediate family should know via text or call before social media 
1b) use judgement sensitively, dealths, surgeries/hospital stays family should know via text or call first
2a)nope. The account used is close family and friends, people shouldn't be butt hurt as it's not just open entirely to the world 
2b) nope -public)  Instagram or whatever open to the general public is fine, it's not like I'm excluding them from the post
3) yes. How dare you think anything positive or negative going on in your life beyond everyday things should be on any social media before telling your siblings to extended family, even if they don't return your calls

I think social media is stupid in general so, I don’t use it for that nor do I like finding things out that way.

My life updates are for me and when I share them idc if someone is happy for me or not I’m going to post what I want. Everyone on my friends list are either family or friends I know personally. We share tips and well wishes and congratulations where needed.

It really isn’t that deep in my opinion. If I wanted to tell you personally, I would’ve. If not, you will see the post or you won’t know cus it’s not your business. It’s usually never something personal. People don’t have to be involved in every damn thing

I announce things to whome and where I feel, other peoples sensitivities aren't my concern if they're on a need to know basis they will know otherwise they will find out if and when I choose to post it.

My friends list is only very close family and friends. But I still say use bb your judgement. For instance, my cousin and I both have PCOS and struggled to conceive. I got pregnant and told her privately before announcing on social media. Just as a courtesy to her since we had been talking about it for so long and I knew it was something she’s struggle with hearing.

Other than people finding out I was having babies, there were no “announcements” made on social media.

I found out my grandma died because a family friend who was with my mom when she found out immediately made a post about it on Facebook. Horrible way to discover that someone you love is gone suddenly. So I never make posts like that. Social media is for stupid shit, things that are not huge deal for anyone. Serious things deserve a phone call. Also no need to let everyone know every damn thing that happens in your life unless your close, in which case I call.

Most of my family live far away and social media is how they know what’s going on. My family likes seeing monthly pictures of the baby and updates on my son on fb, plus old teachers, coaches and friends. I get messages from people I haven’t talked to in years just telling me how happy they are for me. My mother is the only one who HAS to know anything big before I post it. Even insisted on being at our gender reveal because she couldn’t wait for us to tell her 🙄
