How many words is your son saying?

My son has his well check on Monday. He will only say mama when he wants something and it’s rare. Otherwise he makes animal sounds. He hasn’t said any other words. Not even dad yet.

Animal sounds count as words if they are used intentionally to identify a specific animal!

My son only says mama and random babbling. He said no no while shaking his head no one time so I’m not sure if I should count it as a word yet since he hasn’t said it again. He just turned 17 months so I’m a little worried he’s behind since a lot of his age toddlers are starting to talk using 5+ words🥺

My son so far says mama, dada, quack quack, doggie and he roars like a dinosaur but that’s all and it’s all occasional not all the time. I’m going to bring up speech therapy at his next appointment! Don’t stress too much! They will get taking eventually even if it is with a little help! Just keep up with lots of reading and repetition!

My son will be 17 months on the 26th and he can say 34 words. I was shocked at the amount when I made a list of them all and counted.

Kt, could you, please, share, if it's appropriate, your baby doctor's opinion about his speech. My daughter is 17 month old , we will have our check up next month. I'm worried that she doesn't speak.  Just bubbles, says mama, animal sounds. I'd like to know if it's still ok or should we refer to speech therapist. Thanks.

I know this has a lot to do with it( I have 3 older kids, 10,14&15) my little guy says about 50 words and 4 sentences. When I say sentences they are like: it’s hot, no don’t mama, bye bye dada. We read for about a total of 5 hours throughout the day and he spends slot of time outside having things pointed out to him

My daughter is 17month old. I'm also worried that she still doesn't talk. She babbled a lot, say mama, imitates some animal sounds. She recently  started saying  the word flower . She points a lot .
