Normal for a 6 year old to talk back to me all the time?

My daughter is 6 and has an attitude like a teenager already. It feels like a battle sometimes just asking her to do things. I'm getting exasperated with her.
For example; just this morning I'm getting her ready for school and she's loudly talking in front of her baby siblings door. I tell her we need to be quiet so we don't wake them.
She says "I choose not to be quiet."
Any advice!!? I've tried toys away, talking to quietly when she's calm, yelling at her, nothing works.

I would say then you are choosing to not have privileges for the rest of the day. Take away whatever it is she likes to do. iPad, tv, movies, whatever. She is old enough to be able to understand simple directions. Do not engage in arguing with her. Calmly say alright then. You have given up your privileges for the day and walk away.

BTW it is normal for children to challenge  you at all stages 
It's just not normal for us to allow them so go ahead and get ready the discipline gloves on coz can't let her settle in it and that's all.

Yep totally normal. Kids love to push boundaries. You have to keep them in check. My daughter gets a warning, if she does it again she has her tablet taken away, 3rd time she has to go to her room. Yes, she screams and shouts in protest but i just ignore it. She usually apologises after she’s calmed down.

It can be normal depending on your childs character. Some kids are strong headed and some obey all the time. My daughter was clearly the later and I always said that it is exhausting for me as a mother, but at least I know people won't be able to put her in a pocket once she grow up. And now that she is an adult I can see that letting her grow up with a strong mind was indeed the right decision. I would let her have her own opinion, but it had to be respetful of others. I figured that what worked best for us is to make her feel acknowledged and heard, so that she doesn't have the need to rebel against me. We have a very good relationship and she more often than not listens to my advice.

Yes, it is totally normal to not want to do every single thing you are told to do. Idk why people act like total compliance is healthy or normal. Obviously some things just cannot be tolerated, but give her lenience or choices on things throughout the day

Your will needs to be stronger than hers, otherwise you’re in for a world of problems when she gets older.  Is her father active in her life?  Honestly having a father actively raising her is essential.

Girl I totally can relate. My 6 year old daughter is as strong headed as a bull. I think I found out for her that time outs work best.

We struggled with this quite a bit for a few years, but she's just been diagnosed with ADHD and is on medication now. That has helped tons.
