Does new puppy/kitten "blues" go away?

My cat passed away that I had for many years. After her passing our family was so upset we adopted 2 kittens about 6 months ago.
Right now I honestly can't stand them. All they do is break things, scratch up new furniture despite us spending hundreds on kitty furniture and scratching boards. They claw at doors and get into everything, claw at walls. Get poop stains everywhere. Seem more affectionate and bonded to each other than anyone in the house. 
I have sworn to never give pets up but I am at my breaking point. Do these "kitty blues" have any hope of going away? Because right now I am just done.

I’m sorry that sounds so stressful. Are they litter mates? I’ve heard of that being an issue with dogs (no idea with cats) where the sibling dogs bond together so much that they couldn’t care less about their humans and it’s a very dysfunctional living situation. I’m sorry for the loss of your beloved pet and that your current situation is causing more stress than comfort/enjoyment.

The one cat I had I’d be sleep then here my papers being ruffled 😂 it was her lol then I figured out I was allergic cause I started to just keep her in my room woke up one morning completely speechless 😩

That’s how puppies and kittens are, like a toddler they will get into things if you don’t watch them. They outgrow it eventually, usually by the age of 1- 1.5

I guess it depends on the cat, but the kitten I had was so cute & sweet! I don't remember him being a rascal! My puppy was worse! 
I would likely not get a puppy again just because it really is A LOT of work. I think ages 1-4 is good for dogs!

I do know the kitten phase can be rough.  I’ve adopted 4 kittens over the last 12 years and some of them were very difficult and stayed difficult.  If they are scratching your stuff up that is likely going to be a permanent problem.  The crazy rough housing and getting poop everywhere is usually just a kitten thing.  My youngest cat is 3 years old and while she is playful she’s not near like she was as a kitten.  One of my boys passed away 3 years ago and he was a very difficult kitten and cat.  He always started fights with the other cats, he pooped outside the litter box (always the same spot), and over all he just had a difficult personality.  Not every cat is going to be the perfect, social, cuddly cat.  I think this is a case of not really considering that every cat isn’t like your old cat.  It all goes back to people not really taking adopting animals with the seriousness it requires.  If you are going to give them away do it while they are still kittens.  They have a better chance of finding a home as babies than grown cats.

Something to remember about cats is that they are so much more sensitive to dogs. They take so much longer to settle, you do anything out of the ordinary and they can act up for months. So I'd say give them time. And it's fine if they're bonded with each other - cats are known to be aloof. We have a cat that literally never ever ever cuddles with us, never. And that's fine because as long as she is comfortable in her space, that's the most important.

I'm totally going through the same thing rn. My first born kitty had cancer and passed about 18 months ago and we adopted a kitten about 6 months ago. He's terrible. Always breaking our blinds, curtains being all scratched up, our couch is all scratched up, he steals our food, drinks from the toilet  or kitchen sink because he spills his water bowl the second we fill it, dumps his food everywhere, gets on the counters, poops under my bed. I'm hoping it ends soon too.

For me it didn’t.
We got a puppy just after we got married and it was a horrible experience.
My anxiety was the worst it’s ever been. The puppy’s temperament was way too high energy, it cried and barked all night and all day, it scratched up and bit everything. I cried everyday for 3 days and just could not bring myself to even tolerate the puppy and couldn’t be in the same room without my anxiety going crazy.
We ended up bringing the dog back to the breeder after having it for about a week.
Absolutely no regrets! We actually know the family who took her in after us and they’re a very active, high energy family so it was a better fit!
