Scared to sleep when the baby is sleeping?

Question

For reference, I gave birth sept 30th and am a first time momma.
I am so terrified to sleep at night when my baby is also sleeping. We have a bassinet next to our bed, but I am SO SCARED that something bad will happen while my husband and I are asleep. My mom is staying with us to help out and the three of us have been taking shifts to make sure someone is always awake and watching him no matter what time of day/night because I am so paranoid. Please help 😭

I know getting the owlet helped a ton with my anxiety I was actually able to slip when my son wore it at night!!

I remember this fear… it will pass as you get used to having a baby and being a mother. It’s an emotional time for you

I got the owlet because I was the same, i wasnt sleeping and then when I did fall asleep I’d wake in a panic.
He is 6 months now and I swear the owlet is the best thing I even did for my own sanity. Expensive but worth it.

I was exactly the same. I bought an owlet. It was the best thing. I knew that if something did happen I would be alerted. It gave me such peace of mind

The first couple nights home with my daughter I literally stayed up the entire night just watching her sleep peacefully. You’ll overcome the phase . Get your rest

Yup. Normal moms thing. I’m a FTM too and I remember this all too well. My babe is not 10 weeks and I’m finally to the point where I can sleep pretty restful when my girl sleeping. It took a long time to get to this point and I do still worry but it’s way better. You’ll get there. 🙂

I stayed awake all night for 3 weeks, after that I slowly started sleeping more and more. Right when it would reach 8:40am i would palm her off to my husband and sleep. Now at 11 weeks she sleeps throught the whole night with me and sometimes I don't sleep and do whatever which I end ho regretting lool

It is scary I think my baby is 9 months old av just started sleeping but still check him all through the night I wake see he’s ok go back to sleep I have been like this with all 3 of myn untill around 12 months then I seem to relax by the time I stop it with my 9 month old I’ll have a newborn am 28 weeks now with him it does get easier just takes a while ❤️❤️💙💙

If you create a safe sleep space it should be fine. I was like that with my first though. Now i pass straight out bc i have two under two and need my sleep lol it gets easier. Be careful though, if you have severe anxiety id talk to your doctor. I wish i had with my first and got on something
