Is it for me to start collecting colostrum? 36w2d

I’ve been kinda leaking & I’ve noticed that if I squeeze my nipple, it will spray/shoot out colostrum. Is it okay if I start trying to collect it? Could I go into labor?

No, you need to wait until baby as born as it can send you into labor before baby is ready

You can collect colostrum from 37 weeks but I would definitely speak to your midwife first I collected from 37 weeks and baby was fine was what my midwife Advised x

If it's leaking without having to do anything, yes you can collect. If wait until 38 weeks to hand express anything but you could call your OB and ask or speak to a lactation consultant. Hand expression shouldn't cause you to go into labor but an electric pump definitely can. Obviously everyone is different and it may not affect you negatively but I wouldn't pump until you talk to your doctor

Collect yes, if you’re leaking, you can have these cup things sit in your bra & it could catch stuff if it is coming out on its own. But like hand express or pump or using a haakaa or something. I’d wait & talk to your dr first.

I would talk to your doctor about that because everyone is different and she might be ok with it if your baby is developed and ready... but if not its not a good idea. Pumping/hand expressing can trigger contractions because it releases oxytocin. But if you get the ok from your doctor than it should be fine!
