Prodromal labor?

Has anyone had or heard or someone getting induced after 39w for days of prodromal labor (regular contractions thats dont progress you) ?

Im going on day 3 of contractions 5-7min apart all day and night and my ob says to go to labor and delivery but I really dont want to go just to be sent home I hate being there for hours. The contractions are not very painful at all probably a 2-3 on a pain scale
