Would this help my credit?
Really embarrassing backstory, but I was 18 years old and my mom helped me apply for my first credit card. 🤦🏻♀️ I had a limit of $1500 and I was doing really well at first with paying it back. I lost my job and fell really behind, had no money except for my credit card. As a young adult I was never taught the importance of credit or how it worked. So I thought me maxing it out was fine and no big deal. Needless to say I have a bunch of fees now and have to pay well over $2,000 to have this completely closed and fixed. If I paid this with my tax return this year, in full, would this help my credit at all? I was at a 492 and got it all the way up to a 610 over the last 6 months to a year and I’m so proud of that. I was able to get a reliable vehicle after raising my score too. It’s just that credit card bill that keeps eating me alive everytime I go to apply for any sort of loan.
