Would this piss you off or annoy you

When I was talking to one of my family members they told me a few years ago about how one of my male family members let’s call them R was doing drugs and meeting up with prostitutes at hotels then as of yesterday they told me “I don’t know if they were on drugs though”. They also found out that I was doing sex work so the way they tried to get me to stop was that they told me that’s why R died because of the prostitutes he was with meanwhile he killed himself. I’ve caught onto that they would say something then twist it to something else and it seriously started pissing me off. Isn’t this a form of gaslighting?
