Why would the NICU have me feel out a depression quiz

Question

So does everyone know those depression quizzes they have you fill out during and after pregnancy? Why would my sons NICU have me fill one out ? They’re not my OB? I’m confused .

I wish mine would have with my third.  I was struggling hard while my son was in the nicu and had zero support.   I had mild depression and the worst post partum anxiety.  It would have made those first months so much easier had someone in the medical field discussed PPA and ppd with me.  It was like, as soon as the baby was out, myself and my pregnancy related but continuing health issues were just completely forgotten.

Everyone makes you do one. My daughter's pediatrician has me do one every time we're in.

Never filled out anything like that. I think something like that would be great for abused women. If that could be there only way out

Some do that to make sure you’re doing ok, the hospital has resources to help you if they’re concerned with your answers. I filled that questionnaire out more at the pediatrician office than my OB office, which is good since I saw them far more often. The more people looking out for you and willing to help, the better!

My daughters pediatrician office has me fill out a form about depression & abuse every time she's seen. You are caring for your child... they want to make sure you're doing okay, too!

I just filled one out at the hospital too!  Our son was in the NICU. I think it’s totally normal. I had a social worker come to my room also.  She said she was dedicated to NICU parents only.   I thought it was a nice resource.   I just had my 2 week follow up with OB yesterday and I filled one out there too:)

My daughter's pediatrician gives them too. It's standard. And I think it's great. Who cares? They just want to make sure parents are doing okay. NICU life is tough.

I think it's just to be sure its caught, if you're struggling. Having a baby is hard, having a baby in NICU is not making anything better at all.
It's nice they don't assume someone else is gonna test you.
