Working Laws CA-Overtime

Hi all, so I’m now understanding more about overtime and how it works. Say I worked 11AM-12AM. That’s 13HR. But when it hits 12AM the clock resets, right? & I won’t technically receive overtime for 12AM-2AM I stayed. UNLESS I come back to work later that day and worked 8 hours? I had to stay late at work and my boss said I can leave early when I come back in. Although I’m thinking maybe I want to stay to at least feel like me staying overtime was worth it
