FTM how did you choose a breast pump?

Question

Hi all first time mom I will be trying to breast feed + pump so my husband can also feed the baby. My plan is to return to work after 12 ish weeks. I’m having a lot of trouble choosing one, Im sure they will all work but id like some suggestions. Anything helps thank you 😊

I have 4 pumps - 2 I upgraded through insurance, one was a freebie, and one was a convenience splurge:
Medela Freestyle (insurance): It’s nice because it’s portable but I hated how big the motor was. It was still a burden to carry around and would constantly fall off my hip. The newer model is sleek though so I think they’ve addressed that issue.
Medela Hand Pump (freebie): I didn’t want a hand pump but the NICU gave me one with my first. I’m so glad they did! They’re inexpensive so no matter what you get for an electric pump, I highly recommend having one of the on hand for quick engorgement relief. I also felt like I could get more milk with it sometimes.
Elvie (splurge): I got this as a wearable option for when I returned to work but then COVID happened. I still used it quite a bit while working from home. It was pretty quiet (which is why I chose it over the Willow) but the indicator lights are so bright that they shine through your shirt and make you look like a robot 🤖. It’s also more intense and took some adjusting - it kind of felt like I was starting the pumping journey all over again with sore nipples and everything. But it was so much more convenient to get things done around the house! I still wasn’t able to hold baby while wearing them, though.
Spectra Synergy Gold (insurance): I decided on a stationary option this time and this newer model looked promising. One of my biggest issues last time was having one sore nipple and this pump has two motors so you can control the suction for individual breasts. I obviously haven’t used it yet but the reviews were really promising.

I was given one from my sister in law, it’s medela, I got the spectra with insurance with my second baby, I hated it. Not enough suction, I currently have the medela pump in style, we’ll see how it works… hopefully it’ll work as good as my handy down, because it’s loud lol

I have the ameda mya one and I love it. It’s less expensive for parts and great suction. Plus user friendly.

I got a Willow. I have permanent damage in my wrists and can’t use a manual. Depending on the day, twisting bottles on/off every time I need to pump would also be next to impossible. The willow’s parts are magnetic and will attach with minimal effort on my part. Then I can just put the bag of milk in the fridge/freezer and my husband can take over from there. My insurance didn’t cover it fully since it’s considered an “upgrade” and a “luxury”. Must be nice to have full use of your wrists so it’s actually a luxury…..

With my first I looked at what was available at the local medical supply store because that was the easiest way to order a pump where I live. There were 2 brands and few options to choose from spectra and medela. I compared the specs and costs and reviews and decided on the spectra s2. I love that pump, it’s very quiet and powerful. Took some fine tuning to figure out what settings worked for me. I used the pumpin pals flanges with it because I have tiny elastic nipples. 
I will be using it again with this baby.
