November 1st Due Date

This is my second pregnancy and being that I am so close to the end I wanted to know how will I know when it’s time to go to the hospital. With my first my water broke but I didn’t have any contractions so my only indication that it was time was that my water broke. I’ve read in so many places that the second usually comes earlier than the first (my first 40 weeks, 2 days) and that there is no guarantee that my water will break so is there another signifier? I’m working until 2 days before my due date so I’m a little nervous that it’s possible I may go into labor at work and not be aware.
