When did you meet your significant others family?

The day we started dating! He said, “My parents are coming up to take me out to dinner. Want to tag along?”

Within a few days of meeting him, and he met mine the day we met. We both still lived at home so it kinda just happened that way. 🤷‍♀️

A year because we lived in different countries. He came to the US every few months during our first year together then I went to Sweden for our 1 year anniversary and met his mom. He met my parents when we visited Florida at a year and 4 months (I was living in a separate state from my parents or they would have met earlier).

I grew up with my husband, so I already knew his family.

I never brought somebody home to meet my parents unless I knew they were the one. My husband was the first guy I was with that met my parents after 6 months of dating. I got to meet his parents six months later due to the fact is they lived in Texas.  I made the rule never bring a guy home due to the fact is my brother an sister would bring people to meet my parents left an right . I didn't want someone to meet my parents an parents fell in love with them an then we break up I did not want to deal with that drama.

Before my husband, I wouldn't bring anyone home early. But I don't know what happened, I met him on the 11th of December this year, I met his family after 2 weeks, he met mine at the same time, moved in, got engaged and than married 😂 So... I don't know, I guess you just feel when you bring them home?

So my husband and I were friends for a year before we dated. A month into us actually dating I met his parents. They were shook as he never brought anyone around. It took me around 6 months before I introduced him to my family though. So I really feel there is not really a significant reason to doing it early or later as long as that's the goal and what everyone feels comfortable with.

My husband is from a different country so I met them after we got married. That was 1 year after we actually met.

I have never met them face to face. His family abused him and gave up their rights to the state so my husband was in boy's home/foster care since 9 years old. He left a foster home at 18 years old and has never looked back. He tells me he has tried to have a relationship with his mother but all the trauma and abuse comes flooding back so he can't fully be committed to having a relationship. He was abused by her and by so many other people. Hit with electric wires, coat hangers, belts, fists....the list goes on and on. He was locked in a cellar for days. All alone. Only fed water and bread. I have so much love for him. It makes me so angry to know he has been through all of this. I do not want to meet his family....none of them!

After we got married, on a surprise trip home 😅. All worked out well there. We’ve been married 7 years now and I still haven’t ever actually met is dad (they don’t have a good relationship, but they do occasionally talk).
