Pregnant in dangerous workplace?
Hey everyone. I’m looking for any sort of advice or comfort here in regards to my work situation as I’m at a loss on what I should do. I work as a DSP (sort of a caregiver) for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. I work in a group home with three individuals, and have worked here for almost 2.5 years. I really care about my clients but we recently got a third client two months ago. I am 13 weeks pregnant and this new client is physically aggressive. In the time she’s been here she has hit me at least twice everyday almost everyday. She has put her full body weight against me to push by to get things that don’t belong to her, hit me with doors, and tripped my coworker the other day. I’m worried an incident may occur that could potentially harm my baby. I don’t know what options I may have within my work place to make this situation any better. I can’t quit as I need the health insurance and money and I would really miss my other two clients. Has anyone else dealt with anything similar before?
