4 month sleep regression, what happens afterwards?

Question

After your baby goes thru his/hers 4 month sleep regression what happens with their sleeping schedule afterwards?
Do they go back to the sleep cycle they had before or does their sleeping hours increase because they're older now and went thru the regression?
My babe is going thru his first week now but Wondering what to expect when this is done!

My first son's 4 month regression turned into the 6 month...then 8 month.  We basically just had a rough time with sleep for about 4 months then he was finally only waking once a night until 15 months when he finally started sleeping through. There's more regressions to come after the 4 month, and lots of other things that can affect sleep as well. You might also notice they cant really sleep on the go as well as they could before (in the car or stroller while you run errands etc). My second son is now 4 months and we have had some rough nights on and off for a couple weeks but not sure if it's a regression yet.

I swear my baby has been on this regression for the past 5 weeks ....... I'm concerned if it's permanent since everyone I talk to says the regression should stop after 2 weeks or so. 🙁

My son is 18 months and when we went through it, it was a rough 3-4 weeks but then he finally went right back to sleeping great again 12 hours or so. I just tried to keep the same routine as much as possible.
