Shorts for giving birth?

So I know this may sound silly, but I've been thinking about making a pair of shorts that can easily open up at the bottom for labor and delivery. I've had 4 babies and I always wear the hospital gown and it's just so BIG and in the way!!!!! I want to be comfortable this time wearing a sports bra and shorts, but I know that they need to do a lot of checking in the land down under. I know it will probably be messy especially if my water is broken , but during the moment , I don't care. So does this sound ridiculous? Or does anyone have any other comfortable labor and delivery outfit ideas ???
