We decided to have our daughter as our only flower girl at our wedding and then a close friends son as the page boy because his parents are also in the wedding party and can walk down the isle with his mum (bridesmaid). We did not chose to have my partners sisters children as page boy and flower girl and because of that she said she is not coming to the wedding. This obviously really hurt our feelings.

We accepted that she won’t be coming and not long after this we were planning our little girls christening. We were not on good terms with his sister and she did not come to the christening even though she was invited. We would have chosen both my brother and his sister to be Godparents or neither of them to make it fair however we were not on good terms with his sister (she shouted at him down the phone about not including her kids in our wedding) so chose my brother to still be godfather because I didn’t want him to miss out. Now the family think we leave them out of everything and that we are in the wrong.
