When to see my newborn baby

Is it wrong to tell people to wait to see your newborn baby? 
I just had my baby and I’m not ready to have people around him! But I’m staying with my parents temporarily and they think just anyone can come see him. 
What should I do?

Speak up. With our first, people popped in unexpectedly, people overstayed their welcome and we had both of our moms for the birth. I was so overwhelmed. When we got home I had company (unwillingly) an hour later because my family was so excited. With our second, we were lucky there were no visitors at the hospital Bc of Covid. We told everyone we’d let them know a good time to visit and I set boundaries.

They have a right to allow anyone in their home. You have a right to refuse to allow anyone near him. Personally, no one is meeting my baby until it’s a week old, at which point grandparents, only if they’re smoke free(his parents currently smoke), can meet baby. Then immediate family when I feel up for it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ No one has a right to see baby but it’s parents.

Stand your ground and tell uninvited visitors they’ll simply have to wait until you’re up to seeing them.
I was robbed of this due to my situation with being sick with covid. But when I was home, I made it clear that I needed time to bond with my son and husband alone. My in-laws live with us and their feelings got hurt but I *needed* time to recover and be alone with my baby. They got over it.

I messaged my friends and specified that I would let them know when I was ready and not to drop-in beforehand.
