Getting husband a gift card for Christmas?

Backstory: my husband hates almost every gift I give him.. even if it’s something he said he wanted or showed interest in. I guess when he actually gets it, he’s moved on to something else already lmao. I know he really like a certain jewelry company but I don’t want to get him the “wrong” thing. Is it tacky to just get him a gift card for there and he can get whatever he likes when he wants to? I feel like he’s just gonna say that I don’t know him at all to not put more of an effort.

We weren’t even planning on exchanging gifts this year and then I found out he bought me this beautiful $500 coat I’ve been eyeing for 2 years now. (He left the order slip on the counter…I didn’t snoop lol).
