Are Adlyn and Adeline too similar for second cousins?

My cousin has a daughter Adlyn (middle school age) and goes by Addie 99% of the time. I’m currently pregnant with a girl and LOVE the name Adeline. While I know Addie will inevitably be a nickname, I don’t plan to use it often and would mostly call her Adeline. Are they too similar? We see each other maybe once a year or once every 2 years. Is Adeline off limits?

I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you don't see them often.  Many families have names that are the same. Mine is filled with Eds, Eddie's, Edwards. It's very common for families. I think you should name your daughter whatever you want.

I voted yes, but I missed the fact you hat you said second cousins. Personally, I think it would be fine to use if you love the name.

Unfortunately nicknames come
From outside sources more often then not(family/friends) so your avoidance of the nickname Addie won’t change that other people may choose to refer to her as that
