Gwendolen is apparently the traditional way and Gwendolyn is a variation. I lean towards Gwendolyn.

With spellings I often prefer traditional, but I also think you have to balance it with practicality. I love the spellings of Elinor and Isobel, but I would actually spell my child’s name Eleanor and Isabelle because I know it would probably make life easier on them. So in this case I voted Gwendolyn.
