If someone can’t take time to text you back, do you find it rude?

I feel like this always happens to me. Even simple questions. One instance: my SIL. I was having a rough day yesterday and text her for some sort of comfort or support and she didn’t say anything back! It’s been 24 hours.She works part time and always has her phone on her when I see her. I’m also pregnant. Am I being crazy or do you find it super rude?

I don't find it rude at all. Text is a passive form of communication. I am never owed a response in a certain amount of time. You never know what they have on their plate.

I wouldn't say it's rude because I'm one of those people. I don't mean to be - I either get distracted and forget, or I say I'll do it later and forget, or my thumbs are sore so I will do it later and forget... Then by the time I remember again it's like weeks down the line.

I dont find it rude. People arent obligated to answer me just because i text them. They all have lives too.

If I text someone and they don’t reply when I need them to, I usually follow up with a phone call. Text is not urgent and if it goes unanswered I don’t let it bother me.

So I specifically let my friends know that if I don't text them or reply to them for like a couple days it's nothing to do with them I just have a very busy life. I wouldn't take it personally unless you're getting a bunch of other signals as it being personal

I’m going to be very honest. There have been plenty of times when I get text messages and I read them, but I just don’t have the mental capacity to reply with a thoughtful response. I may have my phone on me, but I only have the brain power for scrolling social media. I’m an exhausted mom who just graduated from the two under two phase. However, I keep my “read” receipt active so the other person knows I read their message. Usually, this goes both ways. My friends and family I text have a mutual understanding lol. I always respond, it just might take 48 hours 🤷‍♀️

I was just having a conversation about someone like this! It really depends on the person. The person we were referring too is very selective to who and what she responds too (gossip queen type). But then I have another friend who just never texts in general and probably doesn’t know where her phone is atm
