Which way should we spell it?

Ok, so we have a 5 year old named Mia. We have FINALLY decided on a name we all like for her sister! So we want to name her Amy but I want to spell it Ami because I think it would be neat to use the same letters as Mia. Is it “a little much”? My husband isn’t against it but just isn’t 100% sold on it. What do you think?

I think it will get misspelled and mispronounced an awful lot. I would initially pronounce it like Ah-mee, not like the name Amy. I also think that if you plan on having a third child you are boxing yourself into a corner on names or your third child will be left out of the name theme.

I wouldn’t worry about it being the same letters either direction, at my church there’s a set of sisters Miley and Emily specifically spelled so they would have the same letters and literally no one notices except that they like to tell everyone about it 😂

If I were reading it I would assume it was pronounced Ah-mee. I personally am not a fan of the "unique spelling" craze. I just see it as a potential hassle for the children in their future. My maiden name was pronounced nothing like it's spelling so I was always correcting people or spelling it out. I would hate it if I had to do that with my first name.

I think Amie seems easier to pronounce and goes well with Mia, Ami I would pronounce like the French for friend, ah-mee
