Anyone else get anxious at Dr./OB and have crazy high blood pressure bc of it?

I have PTSD and have a pretty rough time at any Dr appointment but especially OB. It makes me shake & my heart pounds so hard you can literally see it, so my bp is always insanely high when they take it. Im very nervous about preeclampsia and these spikes in blood pressure aren’t calming me down much. Just wondering if anyone else shares this experience.

My friend was like this during pregnancy. She has a huge fear of doctors and her blood pressure would skyrocket during visits. Her doctor suggested she get an at-home blood pressure monitor and do daily recordings and bring the results to her appointment. You can see if that's an option for you

I was consistently high at every appt, but have never had high BP before. My doctor recommended getting a monitor at home to check and see if I’m normal at home. 
It’s a bit of an investment ($70 here in Ontario Canada) but worth it. 
I can see my BP is normal at home, and then spikes a bit the day of my appt. Totally worth the money in my opinion!

Every single doctor’s appointment i’ve ever had, for as far back as i can remember, i’ve had to have my BP taken twice. I get there anxious and have a terrible bp reading, and then by the end of the appointment i’ve calmed down, and it’s normal when they retake it. I would just let them know when you get there, I’m sure they’ll be understanding.

This happened to me when I was pregnant. White coat syndrome. I would ask for my blood pressure to be taken towards the end of the appointment. I always felt better and was less nervous by the end of the appointment. Be prepared though, if you have high blood pressure consistently it can be a health concern for you and baby. Just gotta surrender a little bit that you’re doing all you can but there are some factors you just can’t control. Hope that helps!!
