Does getting an IUD hurt?

Question

Hi everyone, I plan on getting an iud inserted in the next week or so and I’m worried about insertion pain, can anyone tell me how they’re experience was? Anything I should know ?

It definitely hurts, but it's over very quick. Take some pain meds before you go in; that on top of the numbing agents they will use will help a lot. Also stay super hydrated!!! Insertion can make you a little light headed but the more hydrated you are the less dizzy you'll be. Gatorade was best for me
