I never heard of it until recently , it’s like it’s became trendy to say ppl love bombed you . I’m not even sure what it means

It’s win let’s just say a man comes on very strong in the beginning with compliments and telling you he loves you, meanwhile it’s only been a week or a month, and basically they suck you in emotionally get you attached, and then they flip the script and then you see the real bad, either doing the minimal, or being an asshole and treating you like shit. They suck you emotionally and then flip the script and then you’re attached because they were so nice and wonderful to you so of course you think oh he’s not like this all the time, he’s a wonderful man, meanwhile he’s a wolf in sheep‘s clothing. The one you saw in the beginning was never him, the asshole who you’re seeing now Who uses guilt and manipulation or is a narcissist etc. is the real person. Remember that everyone puts on their best face in the beginning, nobody says hi these are my negative traits, no everyone’s comes off wonderful he opens the door for you he’s a gentleman, he’s wonderful, and then a little by little you start to see the real them, this is why I tell people it takes a good year to get to know someone and even then they can surprise you. Take anything that a man says with a grain of salt, his actions that back up those were just what you need to look for. Take things slow, do not move in with him quickly, etc. ￼￼

I’ve heard it in the context of being jealous or emotionally controlling in a relationship. An example I can think of is from the show Friends when Ross is jealous of Rachels co-worker and he sends her all kinds of ridiculous valentines crap to her work and then shows up unannounced with a picnic. Under some circumstances one gesture would’ve been kind, but “bombing” her at work with tons of stuff and showing up uninvited is completely inappropriate and kinda crazy controlling/jealous behavior.

When someone seems too good to be true when you first meet them then turns abusive. Example would he lavish gifts/trips/materialistic things, mixed with overly affectionate and relationship/promises love quick then a sudden change

I had to google it myself. It’s when someone tries to influence another person by overwhelming them with love, affection, & so on.. apparently it can be a good or bad thing but in my opinion if you are manipulating someone regardless of the hopeful outcome that’s a bad sign.

It's basically a new term for whats been known as the honeymoon period in the cycle of abuse. It's intense love and affection designed for the purpose of emotional manipulation and getting/keeping the person in the abusive relationship. It makes the victim feel like they have this very special connection, swept off their feet, cant live without you feeling.

Anyone can love bomb, so please don't think it's just something men do. Anyone can be an abuser and love bombing is a form of abuse. It happens when a person overwhelms you with care and attention that is tailored specifically to you to win you over and blind you to their huge and alarming faults, which generally result in isolating you from loved ones, withdrawing/withholding love and affection if you don't do what they want, and can end up with threats and physical violence. The intent of love bombing is to keep you perpetually off-balance so the manipulator can completely control you at all times. You will be showered with love, gifts, compliments, trips, etc and when you are lost in a sea of bliss, your world will be upended when the loved one all of a sudden goes cold until you figure out "what you did" (which is almost certainly nothing) and are almost ready to jump off a cliff to get the love back. It's cyclical and if/when violence starts, you will be blamed and so on. If you feel like you are being love bombed, you probably are. It won't feel normal after a while. It's a wild ride and not a fun one. Been there, done that, do not recommend.
