PPROM- Baby is coming soon! 32 weeks and 4 days
So my waters have been slowly leaking for an undetermined amount of time. On bed rest in the hospital until baby comes. We are trying to delay to 34 weeks but he may have other plans. I just wanted to share because I downplayed the amount of fluid coming out to my OB weeks ago and it’s a blessing that baby is doing as well and didn’t come earlier. It’s also a miracle I haven’t gotten an infection. Basically, I want everyone to know that it’s okay to stand up for yourself, to tell the doctor that “it’s not just urine” and push for your medical care. I was consistently told urinating in pregnancy was common, even when I pushed that I was FORCED to wear adult diapers constantly or I’d get wet through my clothes.
Not all amniotic fluid looks or smells the same and that’s directly from the hospital doctors. Since I know someone may ask, I will elaborate. For me, mine appeared white, a little cloudy but not totallyyyy unlike some of the mucus like discharge I’ve been seeing since the beginning. I did have SEVERE Covid at the end of December that lasted over 18 days and they did tell me they are noticing this as a trend. So if you’ve had Covid, especially symptomatic Covid (yes I’m fully vaccinated and was recently vaccinated in September at that), watch your fluid amounts. If you’re wiping and notice any increased level, I urge you not to ignore it. Make them swab you. My baby is fine, but I’m stuck here for two weeks until we can induce at 34 weeks.
Just listen to yourselves, ladies. Stand up for yourselves. I originally came in on Sunday night for severe contractions and we found I was 4cm dilated with a long cervix. No one checked me for broken waters. I DID mention I had to wear the adult diapers but was again dismissed. I’m not upset at the hospital. I should have pushed more but I was repeatedly told this was common. Simply because you don’t have a HUGE “gush” of water doesn’t mean your waters aren’t leaking. Ensure your amniotic fluid levels are staying the same or maintaining. Mine went from 14 to 4 since my last ultrasound.
I just wanted to share my story so it may help someone else.
