People’s thoughts of fox/trail hunting in UK
So I’m in the UK where it seems to be a tradition to fox hunt (quote Disney’s fox and the hound) which was banned a good while ago and now it’s “trail” hunting where the hounds follow a scent. I recently joined groups (on facebook, I don’t actually join on their outings) “sabs” they seem to be called which will hang around the hunters to make sure they don’t actually get a fox but sometimes inevitable as you’re in the countryside where foxes live. But also from the videos and posts the sabs post, the hounds have attacked other animals. A cat was in the news not long ago having been savaged by the hounds, a much loved pet.
Then recently the hounds followed a “trail” over train rails and 4 got killed. So it doesn’t seem like the hunters actually care overly much about their hounds.
I’m not really understanding it maybe, this trail hunting. It seems like it’s a cover for actual fox hunting (if you can call it hunting when a pack of dogs attack one fox)
As you will definitely come across actual foxes in the wildlife and other animals. It’s literally inevitable.
I just can’t agree with it, I do actually live in the countryside in the UK and I have not ever been a fan! Just curious though as a lot of glows community are from elsewhere, what are your thoughts and if you are from the UK, what are your thoughts?
I know foxes can be pests but really? Ripping them apart by dogs? That makes my stomach roll!
