Scary moment.
Last week I took 5 pregnancy test in total that all showed positive and after the last one on Friday 1/21, I decided to call and make an appt. with my local health department to confirm my pregnancy. Estimated from my last period which started on 12/14, they calculated me at 5 weeks pregnant. I had been having some pain in my uterus and a foul smelling discharge (sorry for the TMI) and I just knew something wasn’t right. So I went to the ER just to be safe (better to be safe than sorry). They wanted to do an ultrasound and an exam. The ultrasound tech said she couldn’t find any proof of a pregnancy in my uterus so of course, I got concerned and had a little breakdown cause let’s be honest, that’s a terrifying thing to hear when you feel like something should be there. They did some blood work, a pelvic exam, and ran some tests. The nurse explained that it is very common for a due date to be miscalculated and that she thinks I’m just still early in my pregnancy and that’s why they couldn’t see anything on the ultrasound. To clarify, my blood work did show that I was pregnant. She wasn’t really concerned with me potentially having a miscarriage because I hadn’t been bleeding or anything like that. My hcg levels were 531 which she explained is very common for someone that is still early in pregnancy. I did end up having BV and they gave me a prescription for that. She said BV was common during pregnancies and it shouldn’t cause any problems. Just told me to take care of myself and that’s really all I can do. I had my first visit with my obgyn scheduled on February 18th but she wants me to call tomorrow and tell them I need to be seen next week to make sure everything is progressing as it should be. While her telling me that due date miscalculation was common and she wasn’t concerned for a miscarriage was very comforting and brought some sort of piece of mind, it’s still very nerve wracking wondering if I’m okay and if they will ever find a baby on an ultrasound. I want this so badly. I have never wanted anything so badly. 🤞🏻
