How do I get my 3 year old son to share?

I have 2 boys, one is 3 and the other is 4 months. I’ve tried making my eldest understand the concept of sharing, I’ve shown him through role playing and make him see it’s important to share. As he goes Nursery I’ve told him to share with other children as it’s not nice if he tries to snatch. 
He doesn’t like it when I give rattles or soft toys to his baby brother and will take it away 🤷🏻‍♀️ Any advice? X

Can the baby “share” as well so it’s not a one way street? Saying “didn’t that make you feel happy inside?” Something like that.

Toddler teacher here! 
In our environment we only have one of everything so that they naturally have to take turns with things. It’s tough. Especially with a new sibling. Consistency is key. Using gentle language like “it’s your turn now” and verbalizing the interaction is great. Another concept is also having things that they don’t share. For example if your older one has a special toy that only he gets to play with and vice versa for the little one. 
Also don’t forget that as much of a transition to having a new baby is for you, it also is for your toddler which means they’re trying to figure out how to share your time and attention. 
Consistency is going to be your best friend.

Keep doing what your doing. If he takes it from the baby take it back immediately and say it’s the baby’s turn and give it back to the 4 month old. 
Then after the 4 month old has had it for a little bit give it back to the three year old and say it’s your turn now. 
The 3 year old just sounds jealous which is ok but don’t let him/her get away with snatching toys from the younger one, otherwise the 3 year old will think it’s ok if you didn’t correct them. 
It definitely takes time to learn sharing!

I had to use the phrase "mum's turn" "Grace's turn" "baby's turn". She somehow learnt that everyone gets a turn.

Your 3 year old is going through a crazy new world with less attention from mom and dad. My son is 2.5 and my youngest is 8 months now and I e still struggle with the sharing aspect. Our older babies are still learning as well. So it’s a mixture of spite and learning what that means. Luckily my 2.5 year old goes to school so he is learning there as well.

My toddler absolutely loves it when my baby “shares” with her. Whatever the baby has my toddler obviously wants. So I tell her “let’s ask if baby can share.” And then I hold the baby’s arm out to share the toy. And I cheer as though the baby is so happy to share her toys. My toddler now does it back and will share with the baby.
