Does anyone else have a pet that just tolerates it?

This is Hazel our American Bully dog. She was an ex-breeding dog that we rescued in NC 4 years ago. She will be 7 or 8 I believe this coming August (I can’t math right now 😅).

Anyways, we believe she had suffered some sort of abuse from males and/or objects. She is fearful of my husband and if we have any object in our hand that she may believe we are going to hit her with - which has never happened in all the time we have had her. When we got her, the pads of her feet were pink and SO SOFT at 2.5 years old! We do not believe she ever left inside or her crate to be in that sort of condition.

Fast forward to the birth of our daughter and she has always taken to the role of “nanny dog”. Just the other day my daughter was crying and suddenly I heard her feet jump from the couch to the floor and slowly make her way to my daughters bedroom to see if she was ok. Many times I’ve found her sitting at her bedroom door when it’s closed and she’s woken from her nap. Sometimes she will even come to her room after I go in when she’s woken from her nap to “greet her”. She truly is the best dog and these pictures from this morning say it all 🥰
