Breastfeeding when can u stop?

So I’m 31 weeks pregnant and I plan on exclusively breastfeeding for at least a month after my baby’s born. I’d like to for a year but I know sometimes it gets hard and with me wanting to go back to my job I don’t think I’ll be able to but I wanna at least breastfeed for a month no matter what and I was wondering if after that month I decide breastfeeding isn’t for me can I just switch to formula or will that effect my baby. Like do u have to wean your baby off breast milk and onto formula or can u just switch ?

If and when you switch, I would do so slowly. Mix breast milk with the formula, changing the ratios every few days. If you don’t plan on going at it for the a bit, it might even be better to combo feee from the get go. That way your baby’s digestive track is used to it from her get go.

I’ve gone between breast milk and formula without any issues but I think it would depend on if your baby has a sensitive tummy or not

You can stop whenever you want. I wouldn’t worry too much about it as you just don’t know how it’s all going to go for you. If it goes well breastfeed as long as you can or as long as you want. When you’re ready to switch you just need to slowly reduce feeds over a few weeks and replace with bottles. Or you can mix feed and keep breastfeeding for longer. Good luck

I would do a slow transition. You would have to pump some in order to mix it with the formula. One thing that worked for me was setting small goals - first breastfeed for a month, when I accomplished that - next goal 2 months and so on. More manageable didn’t seem so overwhelming and I was able to nurse both kids for 15 months!

I think, if you can, it’s best to do a slow transition. You can try pumping at work but some bodies just don’t respond to a pump.

Most people nurse and then switch to milks like cows milk after a year. In your case you’d have to switch to formula. Why can’t you pump at work? They legally have to let you
