Hello!

My baby is almost 3 days old now. Our first full day home. Born only one week early at 6 pounds. Before we left they gave us formula bc they said he had lost weight bc all I had given him was colostrum. They also gave me nipple shields. My milk just came in today and my areolas are HUGE. but Im not able to tell how much he is getting. I’ve supplemented with the formula , but the only way he will take my boobs is the shield or he is screaming bloody murder. It’s so frustrating for me so I just give in bc anything is better than nothing. I don’t think he is getting enough but I just don’t know what to do. The hospital was an hour away so a lactation consultant is out of the question. I’ll get my pump in a few days so maybe that will help. Wic was no help bc they “offered” classes but never had one or followed thru.
