Inductions?

Why so many inductions? It seems odd that so many people are having their babies via induction before 41 weeks.

I mean, why do you care? You don’t know peoples medical conditions or reasoning behind it. (I’m not having anything elected either & I know it’s simply not my business)

Most are honestly just thinking of themselves and being "over" pregnancy and not thinking of the baby.. some are medically necessary tho.

That’s quite a sensitive topic to be honest,especially when you do not know the circumstances surrounding a persons induction.Personally,my induction was scheduled at 37 weeks because of preeclampsia & blood pressure issues,medically it was safer to deliver my baby than to try & hold on.Unfortunately my induction failed & I was rushed for an emergency c section which was also very scary & afterwards I contracted sepsis & a bad infection which I’m still trying to recover from.Believe me-If I had the choice & everything went to plan-I would definitely recommend induction & natural delivery but unfortunately sometimes that is not the case & medically you must go with what is best/safest.

53% of inductions are for nonmedical reasons. And in America inductions are becoming more and more common each year. Acog says anywhere between 20-40% of ALL births are an induction.

Well honestly like others have said, some people have medical issues and have to be induced early, and some people just don’t want to go past the full 40/41 weeks, really the baby is considered full term at 37 weeks but mainly at 38/39 weeks. It can be very exhausting and frustrating especially when you’re not dilated at all and no signs of labor but you’re so close to the end and want to get it over with.

They told me I was going to be induced last night due to preeclampsia I will be 39 weeks tomorrow. After running labs and taking my blood pressure every hour they sent me home. My ob did a membrane sweep but wasn’t hopeful for it to start anything. I’ve been sick the last week due to my pregnancy and now I’m just ready for it to be over. My body has really taken a hit. It’s also my first full term pregnancy.

I do see so many inductions and was curious - I have seen a few medically induced and also some with certain hospital policies for risks but other than that I’m just not sure. Ive seen 36-39 week induction requests and I thought full term is now 39 weeks - but also, I’m not licensed lol so idk

Mine was due to preeclampsia and was a medical emergency at 37 weeks. Not my choice at all.

I was induced at 39 weeks due to gestational diabetes that required insulin management.
