Which LOTR edition should I buy?

Out of these, I can’t decide which edition to buy. I was going to pick the first one but then I saw more editions and now I can’t decide because they all look very nice. Feel free to comment if you have any of these editions :)

Definitely 1. That reader's companion probably contains a whole lot of interesting lore pulled from the *huge* amount of supplementary material. It doesn't include The Hobbit like 3, but it'd be easy to pick that up separately.

I got this for my son for Christmas and he really likes it. Out of your pics I like the 1st. The 2nd doesnt look like it has The Hobbit.
