Can i breastfeed and get birth control Nexplanon ?

So after i give birth, i want to breast feed and get on birth control the Nexplanon…. But the thing is is it safe and okay? Cuz i dont wanna get pregnant again obviously…. But i heard too when u breast feed u dont get a period and i heard when ur on that birth control u dont get a period either…. So idk im scaredddd

U don’t get a real/natural menstrual cycle while on hormonal birth control, as the hormones typically prevent ovulation as the main way to prevent pregnancy. The bleeding on hormonal birth control is either just breakthrough bleeding or withdrawal bleeding from fluctuations in the hormone levels. Nexplanon is a progestin only method, so it’s safe to use while breastfeeding. As far as “periods” go, progestin only methods are most known for causing irregular bleeding/spotting patterns. That can include longer time frames with or without bleeding (including no bleeding at all), random bleeding, or frequent bleeding, at any given time. It just depends on how ur individual body reacts to the birth control.

I exclusively breastfeed and have a period every month and have since my baby was born 9 months ago. I always heard that no period thing too and some people do get lucky and not have one but it’s not true for everyone. But at your 6 week appointment they talk about birth control and if you want to be on it. Just tell them you’re planning on breastfeeding and they’ll give you options. The options they gave me was pill or arm implant(not sure brand). I can’t get an iud because of my uterus but that would of been an option too.

While breastfeeding you need a low hormone birth control. Everyone is different some women don't have a period while breastfeeding and some do. I had my period the whole time I was nursing with both my boys.

That made me go from 135 to 212. Triggered my pcos and after getting completely off it my periods basically stopped. I had a horrible experience with that birth control.
