Babies/children THRIVE on routine. Don’t give in to the idea that you should be flexible with your child’s bedtime because you want to be the cool/relaxed parent. My husband’s uncle tried to tell us that crap. 
Kids need routine and structure to help build a good foundation for good habits as well as for mental and emotional stability. They do better when they know what to expect. Having a set bedtime and bedtime routine is so valuable in their development.

A routine to start no later than. Not really a bed time. My baby and toddlers routines start at 7:30. By the time books are read it could be 7:45/8:00/8:15 I dont stress the time we are done just that tub starts filling up and timers for play time To end begin at 7:30
