no period for a year

not overly confused because I am still breastfeeding. I did have one about 3 months ago but it went really a period just old brown bleeding. this time three days ago I finally had an actual period it was red but it was very light than usual. am a little confused I cut back nursing so maybe that’s why? I want my period to get back on track I was an every 28 days girl like spot on and it’s so weird to be irregular for me.. is this normal after not having one for so long? idk what to do. i’m slowly stopping nursing.
