Is this plenty of time to put in for vacation?

Two week ago, on March 18th, I put in for a week off in may, the 27th-28th.

Usually my work is very good about letting you know writhing a few days so last week I touched base with my supervisor, who said he’d have to talk to our boss but it should be okay. So week booked it all.

Today I touched base with my boss and hun and my boss had no idea and was very upset I was just telling him now, on March 30th, and that I had already made plans. My supervisor told him I had already put in for the time weeks ago and he calmed down and said that it should be fine and they will figure it out.

However I’m confused, should over a month be plenty of time to put in for vacation? Even if I didn’t check in two weeks ago?

For context my job only requires 14 day notice for vacations.

I also want to not that the only other person in my department took a week off for vacation and I was never notified until the Friday before. I was just expected to cover her and do what I did before she was hired, for over a year a was the only one in this department until a month ago.
