My work is askingus to sign another contract but I'm burnt out and don't want to, what should I do?
I (24) work in housekeeping, we work Monday through Friday and every 3rd weekend 6:30 to 3:00. I have signed up 3 times since I've started 4/03/2020.
We have been very short staffed since I started. I think there was a point where we had at least 10 to 13 position short. The first time they asked us to do a contract quite a few people signed up. Second time only a handful. The 3rd time only 3 people did agreed. The 3rd time was pretty rough since they said we had to pick up at least three shifts a month on top of our every 3rd weekend.
A third contract actually ends this Friday and I was super relieved but come to find out they are starting a new one right away. My coworker who has done it all 3 times has already said no. Boss said if no one signs up that they will just make everyone rotate. So there really isn't no point in saying no.
I feel so overwhelmed and overworked because of doing them. I'd honestly rather quit my job than have to do another. We don't get extra PTO for work these extra shift and yeah the pay is great but at what cost? It's coming up on year on none stop contracts.
What do I do? Should I find another job or just stick it out?
